If it wasn't for cameras with facial recognition software you might need to put an armed cop at every point where there is a camera. Cameras cost a hell of a lot less than armed police officers. It only takes a few cops to watch multiple cameras. These cameras are only extensions of what cops are already doing and lowering the cost to save tax payers money.
