Photoshop has pretty much always been capable of doing this. Any high school kid willing to learn it, could eventually make fakes. It's not new, but this story does make for good outrage clicks against AI. The way I see it, there are much more important questions to worry about, regarding AI, this is nothing in comparison to what's coming. Policymakers are woefully unprepared! The latest AI research is already proving it's only a matter of time and compute scale, before AI becomes "super intelligent". And in light of that, I'm so DONE with playing the capitalism game, as it clearly cannot benefit the average person much anymore.. I mean, how can the average worker compete against super intelligence? I don't have any hope of saving for a comfortable retirement, why should I keep playing this broken game? The very justifications for how we distribute basic resources to people, whether they compete for work, is no longer morally justifiable or in any way valid long term, and frankly if that's where we're heading, I'm done letting greedy money hoarders tell me to "get a job", while they live easy and complain about homeless people. So no, I won't "get a job" as they mean it, I've already spent a few decades trying to play that game, and I'm done, knowing where it's going. Give us all a piece of society's inherited wealth, and share the wealth AI creates with us!
