What's the most frustrating, even before thw AI stuff, is that there is always a group of people that think art on the internet is free to take. Artists don't usually care/mind if you use their art for personal decoration like a wallpaper for your phone, but when that art is used as a product or part of a product to make money, or credit is taken away from that artist of their own work or the work itself is a heavily referenced (as in straight up copied) piece from another person, that's where the line is crossed.
I hate the "art on the internet is free" argument because it disrespects the artist's ownership of their work. That argument is the same as "products out on display in a (real world) store are free because they're out there to take." The latter would sent you to jail for stealing, and so should taking art from the internet without the artist's permission.
