I recently took on a graphic design course. I'm a 30 year old mother of 3, I haven't drawn or used programs like adobe in years. I finally decided to get back into it, and when I started a year ago, it became very obvious that AI is considered the industry standard. 3 of the students in my class relied heavily, if not completely, on AI generated graphics. I have refused to use it, morally and ethically I can't stand it. But apparently it's a need to know to stay relevant these days.
I mean, AI art is winning competitions! And that just pisses me off.
My son is 6 and he is amazing at drawing, Minecraft creatures are his favourite. But it's one of those things. In 10 years if he pursues it and has this epic talent, there's going to be that kid who's just good at AI generation who gets a lot more recognition than him.
And I do see what you mean about empathy. I comment on pretty much any ai post and damn, people are very much expecting us to deal with it and become ai masters....
