Work is NOT an integral part of being a human being! The VAST majority of people already work absolutely meaningless jobs that they actually don't like or utterly hate. The only things integral to being a human being is being at peace, being able to create whenever we want just because we want, to be social when we want and how we want etc. Robotics etc should be used to take over as much work as possible, even if that means ALL of it. Bernie's idea of shortening work hours to 32 hours a week doesn't go far enough..but it CAN be a step in the right direction. We will still eventually end up with MASSIVE unemployment with his idea. People that will NOT have access to having shares in whatever companies they work for. And as robotics and other automation gets better, the unemployment rate will go up and it will continue to go up at a faster rate. The next step is a Universal Share Income where the government owns X% of stocks in every company and pays the dividends out equally to everyone. In the end though, there is only ONE way out of this mess: To totally do away with the whole concept of money and buying things in the first place. Everything should just be free. Really, some people are talking about this, people that are leaders in the fields. They are saying that the cost of production will become basically zero and therefor so will the cost of getting something. --This means money needs to VANISH. But, there is A LOT that has to happen to make that a reality. We need to be able to fully recycle anything made, and be able to send stuff we can't recycle into the sun and be mining asteroids etc. All manufacturing has to be done with zero pollution. The idea of land etc ownership needs to change so the government owns ALL land and housing and doesn't charge anything for it. There needs to be a SINGLE world wide government that is for the people by the people. Which btw, we currently actually do have a single world wide government, but it is for the corporations and the ultra wealthy by them and they basically control everything.
