Long ago all alchemy, the study of chemistry, was at times punishable by death. Royalty stored their wealth in gold which would lose its value if a formula was discovered to turn lead to gold. Now some people want to turn AI over to the government for control. Will we be jailed or executed because we don't follow the politicians' whims? That scares me significantly more than AI.
