AI has almost become like a new religion of sorts, but all this may be a bubble about to burst. Nothing can as yet replace human creativity. Getting a degree is fine, providing it's something useful like medicine, engineering, and possibly law. Most of the so-called arts degrees are essentially useless in the real world. As a baby boomer, I believe that the younger generation is best of learning something that cannot as yet be replaced by AI - like the work of an electrician, plumber, woodworker, or a mechanic. Last but not least, the corporate objective of removing the human element from the job market to maximize profits will eventually destroy the human consumer base on which anyone selling goods or services really depends. The focus on AI as a cheap solution for businesses is obsessive, and needs to be viewed from a wider macroeconomic perspective, based on potential long term impacts.
