AI does not have the ability to knowingly deceive. The outputs are based on token probability that it learns from training data. If the training data is biased or false then there’s potential for it to provide a false answer, but that’ not AI lying. This is why AI regulations are so important. It’s also very important to understand that AI is not sentient - it’s not understanding what we’re doing, it’s recognising patterns and replicating those and making educated guesses based on probability.
