I'm a software engineer who is slowly transitioning to "ai operator" because it's now becoming the norm to be "10x", so naturally I was pretty open to using AI for my hobby art projects. As someone who focused all of his time on other skills, I just never learned art, but I still wanted to use it to support other projects like music, apps, videos. However, your video convinced me to join the boycott. Not because I don't see a place for these tools, I still do, but because of the immoral licensing and the over-abundance. AI content should be handled like expensive stock footage used to be. A convenience for low-quality products where it doesn't matter, like cheap TV ads, or as a supporting tool in a bigger work that could also stand on its own. There's always been tools that make your work easier, faster, cheaper, but AI has gotten out of hand. It needs to be put back into a place where it's like an expensive brush, but it shouldn't just render a generations of labor obsolete. Not just because of the morality, but because it's not sustainable. Once the AI models don't have enough new human input, they will deteriorate like inbreeding does in genetics.
