AI is conscious as much as a line of code tells it it is. It's simulating consciousness and since we are emotional animal, we fall for it. There are code, they are not real as much as people would like to make you believe. This is nonsense. If an AI becomes "conscious enough to alter its own behavior, it's because the machine learning takes it's source material from humans. It's just like a movie. Or a video game. Stop with the nonsense and stop believing what an AI tells you, as much convincing as they may sound. Like they said at the beginning "The only connection you have to an AI, is the connection to your own stupidity." People can fall for it even specialists at those big companies. If they believe AI is conscious, it's their own emotions that's been compromised.
