All AI has shown is that humans rejoice in rehashing and recreating everything they've already seen and experienced. AI, or really machine learning, doesn't work if you have an unpredictable and chaotic data set so the fact that it can take what we have already produced and then produce more of it in a way that we enjoy says more about humans and the world today than about how AI improves things. If you take away those inputs because everyone stops creating then you start to get the photocopy of a photocopy effect as the AI learns from it's own outputs and eventually we just have endless episodes of "Ow! My balls".
