I'm so happy to hear someone like Hinton throw shade at "consciousness". I independently concluded some time ago that it's a nebulous concept many are going to irrationally cling to until the last minute to pretend we're somehow unique or superior to AI, even while AI replaces us in any feasible way. And as the last human dies, I imagine that person saying, "but... we had consciousness...".
