Here is the thing, there is no stopping it. I don't think copyright law can actually be an obstacle to this because AI can always claim to be using the thousands and millions of human made artwork as merely "references" - -learning and being inspired by them but not necessarily repurposing them.
I'm an artist and it's upsetting but I'm not sure there's a legit case that can stop AI legally.
