This whole AI thing is gonna be like the appliances of decades ago vs the crappy break-in-few years appliances of today. Us humans will suffer intellectually—- children used to be very smart and capable because they had to be. They were taught living skills at home at very young ages, elementary school age!. Humanity was articulate, creative, constantly inventing to make our lives better. Now we tell grown 25 year old they are still children and they act accordingly. We are so prosperous people don’t want to work or have families, even though that’s when humanity feels most fullfilled. It will be the complete fulfillment of the idioccracy movie. I am already experiencing the degradation at work. We had a early 20 year old records management system that was 95% perfect, but it was installed on our computers. Our local IT department could customize it for our needs. It was coded prior 2005. It may have been the late 90s. Well the company we licensed from, like many others, has gone toward web based programs. So we got a new one. It’s looks pretty and is absolutely USELESS. It has made my personal workload grow by, and I am not exaggerating, 200%percent. It used to just take me to do my job, where this thing is so useless, two other people have joined me to help keep up during overtime, and we are still falling behind. However due to the fact it’s an “out of the box” product we can’t customize it, so we have to memorize more and more workflows to cope, rather than the software working for us. People make so many more errors coping with this brand new system in the last 3 years, and the dumbest mistakes too. And this isn’t the only software we’ve gotten recently where the updates make NO sense. The program is consistently exhausting to use. I also have sent in many proofs to the company their database is unstable. Now I can’t even trust the data! Anyway, if this is the new AI that is taking over, we need more humans to cope with it. Ps I do have a liberal arts degree, I went on a full scholarship, my degree is useless save being taught how to research and write, but really my only 2 classes that truly helped were the basic computer class and the classes I took in England while studying abroad. I took first year classes for fun, and discovered I may hav been ready for graduation here in the US, but I really learned to study in England. Oh btw, my job does not require a degree.
