"Augmented the people working on it" means that the existing workforce or team for a project has been increased in number, enhanced in skill, or supported by external resources to improve productivity and meet goals.
In other words people will be able to create more and better by using ai. Not that ai will take their jobs. Yes some will lose jobs but not those who learn how to use ai.
