Honestly arguing about the soul behind AI to debunk the 'inspiration' argument isn't nearly as sound as just pointing out that these generative models aren't people, or even really AI. They're pattern recognition algorithms and nothing more, there's no way they can be 'inspired' because it's just math doing math things to slot in the right pixels until it fits what the input request is. Arguing for the soul and human being behind creative work, though I personally agree is important, goes right over the head of tech bros who primarily care about getting these tools to grow profits at the expense of creatives.
