If automation of all work is possible, it will happen. We don't need to find solutions to preserve work. Work is going to go extinct at some point. Technology is by definition always going to make everything more efficient and at some point it will remove the need to work. Humans need to find purpose in becoming better humans, work on philosophy, mental health etc. If your only purpose is your work and being productive, then you will need to shift away from that focus. Personally I have found purpose in helping animals and people around me, there will always be people that need help. Even if it's just someone to talk to or listen to.
The point is, humans are entering a new era where your existence is no longer dependent on work. Purpose will need to be redefined.
