"What do we do with our extra 60-80 hours per week?" 1) Not happening. The rich will never allow UBI because they rely on us living in constant stress and fear to keep us slaving away in jobs that we don't like. That combined with mind-numbing propaganda is the only way to keep us from revolting, voting to raise taxes on the rich, etc. They will find new forms of slavery for us. Just because traditional jobs are disappearing doesn't mean we are useless to the rich. 2) Every year, we accept greater and greater inequality without revolting. The rich have such tight control over the propaganda that drives the opinions of the masses that democracy will only continue to push us into worse conditions while the rich ascend into kingdoms. In short, we will NOT suddenly have “free time”. We will not be supported by any kind of UBI. We will either spend our lives desperately trying to find food and water, or we will work as economic slaves in new forms of work to serve the rich (think high-end restaurant work, robot maintenance, sex work, etc.) I believe our only hope is to find ways to break the propaganda networks and spread real information to our fellow citizens. Of note, LLMs are incabale of reasoning based on first principles. They literally can't innovate without simply combining existing ideas and approaches. Truly novel innovations will have to come from us (until OTHER forms of AI take over, like genetic algorithms, neural networks that learn from samples other than internet data - not LLMs).
