I see a world where the rich develope enough automation to completely cut us out of the picture with minimal underclass of surfs that do their bidding in return for bread crumbs. This class protects their overlords while the rest of us are exterminated or left to die in the wastes, and eventually they alone live in an automated world where none need work for anything. They build an elysium on ours and our children's bones.
