I think the major thing these shortsighted AI tech bros dont realize, is that if artists stopped feeding their programs, it would eventually consume itself like an oroboros. Art is subjective for a reason. I think that what Myazaki said that people are losing faith in themselves is particularly poignant. We are so focused on drawing like masters that we are afraid to try. So we fall into the trap of generating things because we want things to look good now rather than be told we suck. I know that isnt entirely the reason, but I do see that in a lot of posts around DnD in particular. "I needed a pic of my character but I cant draw so I generated this." Its very apologetic but also self defeating and that makes me sad more than angry.
