I'm a game designer who has used AI art in their game and holy cow do I hate it. Its just so inferior to having an actual artist. There is a major problem with AI art that people aren't talking about. If I hire an artist to work on a game then I get a consistent art style and I've found that consistency is the most important aspect to making a game. When I generated AI art I struggled to have it make art using a consistent art style and composition that was visible when I compared each image with the other ones I generated even if I used a style specific AI. Because of this I had to regulate the AI images to place holder art only. If I were to get a real artist I would get rid of those images in an instant. I personally think there will be some uses for AI in more mundane art tasks like cropping out the background of a photo or making a 3d model from a 2d image but I don't think that will lead to any AI companies getting big/profitable. Likely the big companies like Adobi will just include the functionality in their flagship product and be done with it.
