There is no way to stop the AI train. It is inevitably going to wind up eradicating almost all jobs. The only thing society can do is force the companies to provide a massive financial security net for all those whose jobs they are going to summarily displace. The government can theoretically easily enforce this by imposing more robust taxes on big companies, especially those companies whose activities are having a demonstrably disruptive effect on the workforce. But practically speaking, that probably won't happen as a) the people who run these companies are generally so money driven that they just won't care enough to amicably submit to this very reasonable demand, and b) those same people probaBut bly have the key politicians in their pockets and will lobby them like crazy to not increase taxes on them in any meaningful way. "Society can go to hell as long as I can maximize my profits". I personally think that capitalism is overall a reasonable system, but the problem is that the capitalists are too enmeshed with the politicians. Forget separation of church and state, there needs to be separation of "wall street" and state. State should say: we'll let you capitalists continue to do your thing, and we will do our thing to make sure that society doesn't go to pot from you doing your thing.
