Calling it "free money" is the wrong explanation to begin with. It's not even about the money. It's about taking the first step towards a utopia. Towards taking power away from the ultra rich who aren't just destroying the world through excessive pollution, but society as well through war and discrimination. BMI would also àctually give the power to the people, unlike democracy. Which just promises it. BMI also would never cost us anything and can easily be started. Because if a BMI is implemented, then there should also be a roof to how much an individual is allowed to save up. Every surplus should then automatically be sent to an official bank account that takes care of the BMI. That means every ultra rich loses all the billions they have. That means government officials lose the option to take advantage of their positions. That means prices will drop and stagnate. That means the end of inflation and taxes. That means everyone can travel the world, start a business or follow their dreams. That means that conglomerates, in any form whether businesses, tv networks or sport teams, would dissapear. That means the end of poverty, famine, homelessness, corruption, etc You'd have to be a real fkn unintelligent tool to be against that, or you're rich enough to be able to notice a difference in lifestyle and you're too selfish to give that up. You'd rather watch the world burn than heal it by sacrificing a minimal to make a huge impact.
