The top 1% make their money from the remaining 99%. Who will buy their iphones, tesla, xbox, if 50% white collars loose their job worldwide? It's a double edged sword, or the concept that emerged from a military nuclear confrontation "mutually assured destruction". There'll be mass unemployment but there'll be mass exodus of trillions from billionaires or mega corporations like Google, Apple, Sony, Facebook, Tesla, you name it, all of it. When there's less people to buy their product, firms will spend less on marketing, that means, it trickles down to firms like facebook or google, who makes the bulk of their money through advertisement, who directly doesn't sell anything to end customers. I only see a possible robotic or automation tax as the only measure that can counter this threat; to subsidize social safety net for the new jobless people. Basically we'll transition into this new system of economy where it'll no longer be working class, but consumer class. Where people get free universal income and then use it to buy goods and services.
