If you use a calculator and type in 5319009 and flip the display upside down you get 'boobies'. This is not the calculator telling you some secret of the universe. Humanity 'tortured electrons' inside the infrastructure of a calculator to get one input to transform into one output. gAI is the same thing, all of the 'knobs and dials' that we adjust to get gAI do 'do what we want' is the act of 'torturing electrons'. The fact that the gAI said "Get some sleep" isn't because the AI has conciousness or desires, it's because for hundreds, thousands, billions of working hours, programmers 'tortured electrons' to make the gAI say this. Yes it's probabilistic, but we want the probability itself to say something, and thats what the truth behind the AI research really is.
