wow. i can disagree with NDT with confidence on a few things. firstly, that AI isn't just software that does complex tasks. the distinction that makes software AI is deep learning, which is where we feed reams and reams of data into an engine that can then competently fulfill tasks in novel ways. how AI does this is rather similar to how brains do it, by recognizing and utilizing patterns drawn from a knowledge base, as well as from inborn animal instincts whose analogues in AI are explicitly programmed. i'm also a bit incredulous at NDT's lack of the enthusiasm and dread that many of us have about where AI is headed. and, to quibble with NDT's logic assertion, a glass isn't exclusively half full vs. half empty; it's BOTH!
