It's something I've thought about a few months back: Hypothetically if everyone were laid off due to automation, how would they live? Through UBI? Where would the tax funding for UBI come from? Taxes on the corporations' profits? Profits from people spending their UBI? This would require a larger sum of wealth per 'cycle' of consume-tax-UBI than the previous cycle to work (and essentially assumes a 100% tax) for longer than a year of two, since not all wealth will be cycled, and not all wealth will be taxed fully nor spent 100% efficiently: It doesn't work.
