Two things for any video or photo, regardless of how it is created:
1) Who set up the camera, how, and why? Does it make sense for there to be a camera at that moment and from that angle, and is how the camera moves reasonable with that explanation?
2) What is the source? How far back can you trace it with linked sources or reverse image search?
These may or may not give you a clear explanation, and that should help you decide how much you trust what you're being shown and how it's being interpreted. This method is useful not just for AI but for Photoshop and traditionally created hoaxes too.
I've also noticed certain short lived trends with genAI based on what's viral or popular at the moment. The first "night vision security camera of someone asleep on bed" wasn't immediately obvious, but the next ones were.
