Whenever Lex says "humans have overcome obstacles before, why wouldn't it happen again?" I just think about a line in Robert Mile's AI safety video in which he says "There's no rule that says the challenges we're given are ones we can overcome. For example, if an asteroid had hit the earth back in the 1800s, we would simply just be dead, there would be nothing technologically or moralistically that the society of then could do. There's no rule that says we'll make it"
