Ok everyone calm down let’s look at reality. First, these trucks are not ready to go driver-less any time soon. Next, smart trucking companies are not going to send thousands of dollars of products with no driver and trigger a robbing spree. What will happen is drivers will be able to travel longer distances in shorter periods of time with the driver-assistance on major roads. The laws will change so drivers can rest while the truck is in autopilot. Meaning, quicker deliveries, faster turnaround times.
Drivers will make MORE MONEY, because they will have additional skills. We need 60,000 truck drivers. Even with automatic drivers, that number will only get larger.
