It isn't AI. It's the low quality of the current crop of college graduates. They want a four day work week, they want to work 100% remote, they want $100,000 a year to start, they want to talk all the time about activist causes within the company. Perhaps the most disturbing point is this trend of new grads bringing their mothers with them to interviews for emotional support. No joke. None of that makes for a good employee. When I came out of undergrad years ago I felt like college had done a pretty good job of getting me ready for the adult world. Now colleges seem to be more focused on talking about how communism is good, how the kids are all special, how white people are all colonizers, etc, etc. For the privilege of that skill set colleges have jacked the prices up so high that everyone is coming out with student loan balances that are often as much as a home purchase. The higher education system is doing students a big disservice and my sense is we're going to start seeing less people enroll in upcoming years.
