I don't really think NDT's takes have ever been worse. His lackadaisical approach to AI and the economy resulting from AI is naively apolitical and does not consider just how unreasonable 'constant innovation' is for most people to perform. Burnout, a lack of social resources, a constant lack of productivity translating to better living for nearly everyone that isn't already well off. These are the things in the way of this grand image of the adaptable man that Neil isn't thinking about.
And don't get me started on his relatively bullshit response to psychoactive substances. Was he right? Probably, was it missing the nuance of those substances and their ability to perform real healing and performance enhancement in people? Absolutely.
