Amazon employee here! This is very real. We have Ai at our facility and having worked with electronics I can tell you what they're most likely doing.
We have something called TOT, which is just time away from your station. The cameras watching you work track that so you can go to the bathroom without having to tell a manager about it. It's also so our movements train robots through repitition and keeping track of who's on their phone vs working.
Sadly, we are in the surveillance stage of a civilization. It's the next steps that decide if we become a cyberpunk, solarpunk, or post apocalyptic society. I would know! I studied environmental science and electrical engineering whilst being in student government. Studying about it all makes you realize, you are not in control of your future or your generations' future. The most disconnected people at the top are. You have to try to make them care.
