Something about both sides of these arguments is a little off to me. So, I've got a day job, and I've also been making in bands, booked shows, helped run a few venues, do graphic design for flyers and album art, and ran a small label for a while, since around 2007/8. I never expected to see a single penny from those ventures, because I always felt like the music (and art, in general) should exist outside of a capitalist system. I don't think true meaning and a profit incentive can really co-exist with each other. ML art is never going to show up in any respectable gallery. What could they even put on the card? I feel that there's a conversation about intention and motive on both sides of this argument that should more deeply be explored, in the context of why we even make this stuff. If you're drawing to fulfill your raw desire to create, and not just make money, ML isn't going to stop you. But worrying about your job being automated away is something that an untold number of people have dealt with, since the invention of the printing press. Just looking at the history of other industries, I don't really see this as that big of an issue. I will say, all the reddit comments you've shown sound like 100% 12 year old chodes. It's a bummer that you have to deal with those anon internet scumbags.
