I'm also in an adjacent group, geophysics, and I can tell you AI is useless for my job, so seeing geotechs there shocked me. AI is very susceptible to hallucinations in geophys due to maybe just being too niche or specific, which is unnacceptable with the amount of money on the line and geotechs often have people's lives on the line too.
There's nothing in the method that isolated job loss due to AI so I can only assume it's market related.
