That was an interesting article. I don’t support the idea of consumers taking on the risks of “training” autonomous vehicles. It seems more appropriate that multi-billion-dollar corporations like Tesla and Waymo bear that responsibility themselves. It's really surprising that our government allows these vehicles on the road. For now, I’m not inclined to use autonomous driving until it approaches SAE level 4 at least. I’m also skeptical of the push for “car-free” streets in many areas. While it may work in certain neighborhoods, it doesn’t reflect the reality for a large portion of people who depend on cars for commuting, errands, and daily life. Policies that intentially reduce road capacity—through added restrictions, redesigns, or confusing lane markings—and thus force people from using those streets is irresponsible unless alternatives like public transit, subways, rail lines are in place. I've seen too many good streets turned into ghost streets that are used by neither cars or people (maybe except for weekends).
