The only silver lining here is I think most companies are way overestimating AI's current usefulness and the AI bubble will pop soon. Also getting most of our menial labor to be automated isn't necessarily an issue by itself, we've had diswhwasher jobs replaced by dishwashing machines and that's a good thing. The issue is the current economic system which REQUIRES a person to have a job or die, basically. We should be guaranteeing basic food and shelter to all humans and would probably have the resources to do so if almost all current jobs become automated. Food could basically become free in a world like that.
