True General AI is the next moon race, atomic weapons race or super computer race, and it has the potential to do great things, or horrible things.
Imagine an AI that can manipulate the world economic market so one country dominates the world economy?
Sounds good but what happens to the poorest countries? Do we allow the AI to abuse the world’s 3rd world economies for profit?
Or an AI that can sift through trillions of packets of data looking for terror organizations and their intentions and then use that data to make connections across the globe? Sounds good right?
What happens to the political opponents of the ruling class when the same AI is pointed at them?
How about the country that develops the first real sentient AI then uses it to dominate all technological advances across the globe? So no other country can develop AI and compete.
