I came across an Ai Supporter and I decided to respond to them, however I'm very proud of what I've typed so I figured, "Why share this all with one person when I can make a comment and share this with everyone?" So this is directed to all the ai supporters out there who have watched this video or made comments, as I've seen a couple. This was not written to invalidate others opinions and emotions, this is just to show the issue from the perspective of artists and other people against ai. Also a note to fellow artists, the filters don't work, however I do suggest if you don't want your work to be used by ai there are websites that hold strict no ai policies like Cara, Newgrounds, Artfol, Artgram, Devoted CG, and Furaffinity. How long does it take to get an AI image? You have to think for at maximum ten minutes and type a prompt into a generator that will spit out an image in minute or so. How long does it take to make an actual art piece? While something like a silly little doodle may only take minutes, large pieces of art, physical and digital, take a lot of time. For example, the one in this video, which took 20+ Hours. Also, real art takes more time to think up, and directly comes from ones imagination. Ai images on another hand, look at previously made digital media humans have made with their own bare hands and takes aspects from them, affectivity stealing them, and uses it in its own image created to the theme of a prompt a person typed on their computer. Artists do not give consent to have their pieces used in that way. An example of something like this is tracing. An artist may put time, effort, and creativity into a piece, only for someone else to come along and trace it all and sometimes claim it as their own. Artists usually don't consent to that behavior and tracing is frowned upon in the community. The problem with AI images is that artists who don't want their art, which was made with much effort, creativity, and time put into it, used to train ai and create AI images do not have a choice in their art being used or not. It also takes away the emotion someone feels when making a piece, because when you put in a prompt and look at the results, the emotion you may feel cannot compare to when an artist spends great deals of time creating a piece and feeling joy and sometimes frustration and having difficulties and design changes during the creation process and finally being able to sit back and look at what you have made and feeling satisfaction with your work. And when sharing your work with someone else, they would reasonably feel a lot more impressed with your work when you've made it instead of ai making it. (The next parts were directed to something the ai supporter said) Also, you don't have to have "skills" to create art. To some it may not look good but a piece you put time, effort, and creativity into that looks good to you is still art. However, I do like your idea that with AI, people with physical disabilities that can't make art but want to can be able to make something like it. I do want to point out though that some people with physical disabilities can still create art. Like Freida Kahlo who contracted polio at age 6 and was left with her right leg and foot damaged and at 18 when she was left bed ridden for three months after she broke her spinal column, collar bone, ribs, pelvis, and suffered numerous fractures to her leg and organs when she was hit by a bus. During this time, she began to paint. There are also different ways people can express themselves and different forms of art people can explore like music creation and fashion design. And as for your comment on how a portion of the art community is hostile to others, I agree, however it's not large and not all people like that who are against AI and not all people who are against AI should be labeled like that. And I assume it's really only people who do traditional art and have their pieces in museums and such that don't want any competition, as I've never seen an online artist act like that, nor do they need to. It's also not unreasonable or selfish to not want your work, which you've put a lot of effort into, used in training AI and have your work used in AI images. Artists should be able to share their art with the masses without their art being used in that way if they don't want to. I am also curious and excited for the technological advancements that will be coming in the near future, however we should make sure these advancements are being handled well, as AI sure is not being well handled currently. Some examples of this are the self-driving cars created by Waymo, using AI, which are very faulty and very dangerous, with cars stopping at random and having difficulty getting around. The ai ordering systems at fast food places which are often faulty, unable to understand you, and add things to the menu you didn't ask for or miss things that you want. Ai chatbots and ai apps, which people often get addicted to and use in harmful ways, often making their mental health decline. Ai writing, content, and advertisements which are visually unappealing and not interesting. Ai voices which mimic the voices of real people who usually do not consent to their voices to be used that way and tend to sound robotic. Ai is being used in fields that have no need for it and may negatively impact the ones who operate those fields. Along with that, ai is simply not advanced and monitored enough to be used properly yet, and people are not ready to use it either. I hope my comment has positively impacted your opinion and I hope you have a good day/night!
