Mechanical engineering who has been designing automation for 10 years now and i can tell you that the demand for robotics has increased 3X in the last few years. I have been in many meetings when ask how many workers could my machine replace. Its sad sometimes when I go to a install knowing some one is losing a job. The main push as of now is to only have a human load the machine this way they can replace the operator with a "machine tender" aka replace the full time 40K guy with a temp. The industry is creating jobs but they are at such a different level.
