I have conflicted feelings because on one hand I totally agree, but on the other hand I don't think I immediately dismiss AI stuff (note: "AI" refers to so many different technologies, but i'm gonna assume we're talking stable diffusion).
I think you can find patterns- even in statistics- that can be interesting to look at from an artistic perspective, and furthermore, even if it's "low effort" I still see prompt engineering as experimental and artistic. Especially when artists are using AI stuff alongside other mediums and techniques.
Before it was a huge thing (like 2018ish), I was fascinated by the technology: I loved how surreal and glitchy it looked and learning about the tech that went into it. So it sucks that there's such a huge divide now, and it especially sucks that big investors that don't understand the tech keep pushing it everywhere and even using it instead of paying artists. ):
