Yes, "AI" is just a digital application for automated intellectual theft. But illustrators left themselves open to it as soon as they started making digital art. They undercut traditional illustrators by being faster and more flexible. Whereas a traditional ilustrador always had a physical creation whether he sold or not, digital artists let themselves be convinced by the market that it was OK to be left empty handed as long as the clients were smiling and paying the money. Then they flooded the Internet with digital images prime for stealing. Young people don't remember, but there was a time when artists and museums were very jealous about even letting you snap a photo of an artwork. It is similar to how record companies are the ones who digitized their properties and they made a fortune selling CDs until someone wrote a program for easily copying music and it was all over. Yes, illustrators need to fight back and programmers need to write programs to verify that license has been granted legally to mechanically copy and assemble derivative images.
