My first thought is that twin taillights may be a factor in these accidents. I came up on a motorcycle with twin taillights on a foggy night and at first glance, it tricked me into thinking it was a car in the distance. then I realized that it was actually a motorcycle that was much closer and moving much slower that I had originally percieved it to be. I had to get hard on the brakes to avoid a collision, and was glad that my speed was already reduced for the fog and my reflexes were fast enought to avoid a catastrophe. I am a lifelong motorcyclist and former professional driver , so watching out for motorcycles is always at the top of my mind when driving. Hopefully Tesla and other self driving car manufacturers will take this problem seriously and put the necessary resources into preventing these types of accidents. After my personal experience and now after watching this video , I am glad that my motorcycles all have single taillights. And I don't think that I will ever buy a bike with twin taillights , simply as a matter of self preservation. I'm not a fan of self driving technology and see many reasons that it is a bad idea. Unfortunately, these things are coming if folks like me like it or not. At some point , I suspect that motorcycles will be deemed incompatable with these new high tech transportation technologies, and banned from public roadways altogether. I hope I'm wrong on that one.
