Ignore the anime profile picture. I think this video has a overestimates AI and presents a reductive argument.
First off all, this video does not account for social jobs like lawyers. Sure, Scanning through legal documents can be automated but human social interaction of a court room cannot. Our societies, governments and most institutions are based on social constructs not pure productivity. Social jobs are a significant portions of the economy and job market. To have total adoption of AI, We need to have institutions dismantled and remade around AI which is highly unlikely.
Second of all, For mission critical jobs, AI, even if it can out perform a human, will not totally replace them. Take pilots for example. For the longest time, planes can fly, land and take off, mostly by themselves. Though this is true, we still decide to take human pilots on planes. This is because, even if AI can out perform humans, we do not want to deal with the unnecessary risk of having no pilot. If a plane with no pilot were to crash, it could falter the confidence of the entire aviation industry.
Thirdly, AI is not improving at a extraordinary rate as described in this video. Silicon Valley, because of there deep investment in AI, wants you to believe this. The jump from chatgpt 2 to 3 is not as big as the jump from 4 to 5. It seems that AI progress if following a logarithmic curve.
On the point of unemployment, since we have no reliable jobs data, thanks trump administration, we cannot make the conclusion that the Jobs market is as bad as the vibes make it out to be. Though, Jerome Powell is decreasing interest rates indicating a weakening in the job market, it does not mean a end to all human jobs. Also a lot of the layoffs can be due to companies coming out of Zirp and, to protect company share price, they are saying that AI is making them more efficient.
In conclusion, AI is a big topic. Its future cannot be foretold in a 16 min video. Pretty reductive take, ngl.
