AI is for the most part task oriented. 20 years ago the defense department was working on cruise missiles that would loiter over an area hunting, identify targets, drop bomblets, then find and hit its primary target. This was way before AI. Question: If someone deliberately gave AI a long range task to destroy humanity, and part of its task was to not be caught doing it, or be ordered away from its primary humanity destroy mission, could it do it? Also, would it do it? If the answer is no, I’d say we don’t have anything to worry about from AI.
