Ai is not anywhere near ready to do the work of humans...but the tech companies wanted to have other companies buy into Ai and they had to prove it worked by sacrificing good employees. You didn't fire researchers when Google came along and made search easy...you hired more people to do more research, the data got better...there was more data to search...the same goes with any innovation, when CAD came along you didn't fire designers and engineers, you moved them over to computers and to speed up design and made things better and more robust with quicker delivery times.... These tech companies laying off people thinking Ai is going to replace coders and engineers who solve problems....and them are not understanding what they are offering. We can all blame the Jaimie Diamons of the world...people like his with no clue how anything works being surrounded by YES MEN make bad decisions and then working people have to suffer from his stupidity.
