There are certainly risks to AI in the sense that it can enable malicious actors. However, it's an extraordinary claim to say that this could lead to the extinction of mankind by what means? The people who are fearful don't present any concrete scenarios in which mankind is wiped out. Also, many of these possibilities already exist without AI biological warfare nuclear war.
