As a parent it's kinda frustrating that my kids don't just begin life with everything I know - that they're starting again and the best I can do is tell them or teach them. And it takes YEARS to get anywhere. And yet, I observe their choices now they're teens and how they do many things better than me, and I think that there are benefits to purging knowledge with each generation. For example, with morality my grandparents were opposed to LGBT rights, but we've been able to move past that viewpoint as fresh minds have come through.
So here's the question - how does AI overcome this stagnation in a future where they know everything and are only building knowledge on top of knowledge? How do they adapt? How do they jettison knowledge that's no longer relevant?
Imagine a war between AI and humans - the advantage we have is that if we start behaving differently to how we used to behave, how does AI stop using the now incorrect knowledge that it's built upon? Is there hope for us here?
