I think in this debate it is important to remember that most art is not made for the sake of art: It's for the sake of profit. Most artists earning an income are working in fields like advertising, or graphic design for a company's internal productions, or as a small part in the production of a large commercial media project. Do not think of AI as simply replacing a human artist, but rather as something that boosts the productivity of an employee to the point fewer employees are needed. An artist using an AI tool for assistance can produce more art in less time, and the quality of work produced can still be high enough for commercial usage. Or a fresh graduate can be given an AI tool to polish their work and start producing drawings that would otherwise take an artist with years of experience and correspondingly higher wages.
