12:23 That's a very important point you breezed by, there, Friend-o. That's the thing that scares me the most about all this. The people who build and design systems like ChatGPT _have no idea what is going on inside them._ These systems are black boxes and we don't know how or why they say the things they do. Their designers can set them up and train them on data but beyond that, they cannot tell you why that system chose the words that it did or anything else. Their capabilities are massively outstripping our ability to understand what's going on inside them. We don't understand our own brains yet. And now we don't understand these artificial systems at all. What are we doing?! I feel an existential crisis booting up in the back of my brain so I'm going to stop there and call my therapist. Man, I wish I could write half as well as this exurb1a guy. What a fantastic video. This video should be played at a general assembly of the UN and/or for every head of state with their best computer science advisors there to explain it to them. We need regulations, laws, rules, guardrails, whatever label you want to give them, before this stuff gets really interesting. ...and by interesting, I mean dangerous. There's that existential dread again. I'm really gone this time. Then again, maybe this is all just another Y2K moment and our grandkids will look back on the 2020s and chuckle at how we all panicked for a few years that AI was about to murder us all. Meanwhile, they are still struggling to get ChatGPT 7, or whatever version they'll be on by then, to quit hallucinating. ...but probably not. Oh, no. My grandkids may never exist because the world is going to die at the hands of our AI overlords. .....why?! Am I really losing it right now? Yes. I really am. I'm going to go make that call now.
